Who Is The Owner of Yeti Airlines? – Yeti Airlines Pvt. Ltd. is a Nepalese airline based in Kathmandu.
Yeti Airlines was founded in May 1998 by Ang Tshering Sherpa and received its Air Operators Certificate on August 17, 1998. It began operations with two de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft.
Yeti Airlines established the subsidiary Tara Air in 2009, to which it outsourced its STOL operations to airports in Nepal’s rural and mountainous areas, and transferred its respective aircraft, DHC-6 Twin Otters and Dornier 228s.
Yeti Airlines and Tara Air have merged to form Nepal’s largest domestic airline, with more than 60% of the total market share as of January 2008.
Yeti Airlines launched Fly Yeti as a joint venture with Air Arabia in 2007. The airline ceased operations in 2008 due to political uncertainty.
The European Commission barred all Nepalese airlines from entering European airspace in 2013. This restriction is still in effect as of June 2021, and it applies specifically to Yeti Airlines.
Yeti Airlines launched Himalaya Airlines in 2014, another joint venture with Chinese Tibet Airlines.
Yeti World, Yeti Airlines’ parent company, also owns other tourist-related businesses such as hotels and resorts, as well as two additional airline companies, Air Dynasty and Altitude Air.
Yeti World made headlines in December 2019 when it was implicated in a corruption case involving Prime Minister K.P. Oli.
