Who Is Julian Leeser?, Age, Family, Net Worth: Julian Leeser, officially known as Julian Martin Leeser is an Australian politician.

Born on May 25, 1976, he holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales

Aged 19 at the time, Julian Leeser was estimated to be the youngest local councilor elected in NSW history.

Leeser joined the Liberal Party in 1992 and in 1999 he served as a member of Prime Minister John Howard’s No campaign during the Republic referendum

In 2000, he was an associate to Justice Ian Callinan of the High Court of Australia and also worked as an adviser for Minister for Workplace Relations Tony Abbott in 2001.

Between 2002 and 2004, Leeser worked as a solicitor for Mallesons Stephen Jaques and in 2006 he joined the Menzies Research Centre as executive director.

He also worked as the Director of Government Policy & Strategy at the Australian Catholic University in July 2012.

Leeser served as vice president of the Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division) from 2015 to 2016.

At the 2016 federal election, he was elected to parliament where he succeeded the retiring Philip Ruddock in the Division of Berowra.

After the 2019 election, Leeser became chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Migration and the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Indigenous Affairs.

After the 2022 election, he was elevated to Peter Dutton’s shadow ministry as the Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians.

Leeser has been identified as a member of either the moderate or center-right faction of the Liberal Party.

The Liberal MP has resigned as shadow attorney general and shadow minister for Indigenous Australians, less than a week after the Liberals confirmed they will oppose an Indigenous voice in the constitution.

Leeser, who is a supporter of an Indigenous voice, announced in a statement on Facebook on Tuesday morning he had resigned so as to campaign for a yes vote in the referendum.

His move has been welcomed by fellow Liberals who support the voice, including MP Bridget Archer and Senator Andrew Bragg.

However, it’s unclear if Leeser’s resignation will trigger further resignations from the shadow cabinet despite several moderates expressing concern about the party’s position in that forum.
