He was raised by his parents alongside his older brother, Josh Jung.Jace had his high school education at Douglas MacArthur High School. He then proceeded to have his college education at Texas Tech University where he actively involved himself in sports specifically in baseball and played for Texas Tech Red Raiders. He put up an outstanding performance which drew the attention of scouts.
During the 2022 MLB draft, he was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the first round with the 12th overall selection. After being selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 2022 MLB draft, Jace signed with the team on July 25, 2022, and received a $4,590,300 signing bonus.
He became the third first-round Major League Baseball Draft pick in program history, joining his brother Josh Jung (8th, Texas Rangers/2019) and Donald Harris (5th, Texas Rangers/1989).
