Who Is Gareth Richards Wife: Meet Laura: Gareth Richards was a comedian and a former radio co-host.
He was co-host of the Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio and also appeared on such BBC shows as Russell Howard’s Good News, as well as BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Radio 4.
Gareth Richards has been performing comedy live since 2004 and has been planning to stage his tenth solo show in August this year (2023).
He was featured at the Edinburgh Fringe 10 times and on a variety of BBC TV and radio comedy programs. He co-hosted Absolute Radio with Skinner and Emily Dean for two years.
Well, the renowned comedian has died. He passed away at 6.30 pm on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 41 after being involved in an accident and hospitalized in March this year.
Gareth Richards died from injuries he sustained in a car crash on Monday, March 27, 2023.
His death comes a week after Frank Skinner broke down in tears on air as he told listeners Gareth Richards was in a coma and fighting for his life.
In a statement, his wife Laura said he had suffered severe brain injuries and had to be taken off life support.
Laura penned; ‘It is with great sadness that I have to share that Gareth passed away on Friday, April 7 (Good Friday) at 6.30 pm.
‘He was in a terrible car accident on Monday, March 27 at 11.30 pm and sustained serious brain injuries. ‘It was a miracle that he arrived at the hospital alive.
‘Since then, the doctors and nurses have been incredible and have kept him in a stable and sedated condition.
‘However, the latest scan revealed that the extent of the damage was so severe that they would have to remove all of the supportive medications and allow him to be at peace.
‘The boys are bearing up well.’
Since his death, tributes to Richards have come in from friends and admirers in the comedy industry. The Frank Skinner Show tweeted that they were “heartbroken” and would miss Richards “greatly”.
At the time of this report, the family was planning his final funeral arrangement and the details are yet to be finalized. We will keep you updated.
