Who Are Valkyrae Parents?

Valkyrae was born to a German father and a Filipino mother. Her father died in April 2017 after a long battle with cancer. The streamer wrote on Instagram that she knew for a while that the disease would kill her father, but she wasn’t prepared for when he took his last breath.

“i love you and miss you so much dad. Finally no more pain. The past year has been challenging and taking care of him during his last few weeks was the hardest experience. When he took his last breath I still wasn’t prepared. But no more pain and confusion, no more anger and sadness. Rest In Peace”

Valkyrae started catering for her mother soon after gaming became profitable for her. In 2018, she said in an interview that she’d paid off her mom’s debt and helped fund her business using gaming money.

In late January 2020, Valkyrae revealed that she signed a deal with YouTube to ensure that she had enough money to continue supporting her expensive mom. The gamer said:

“My mom lost her job about two years ago and I have been fully taking care of her since then. She is fully dependent on we’ve been remodeling the house in the Philippines. We actually did finish remodeling the house in Washington – my home town. You know, she is not cheap.”

Valkyrae began streaming on Twitch in 2015 and later began uploading her gaming content to YouTube. She had her breakthrough by playing the competitive online game Fortnite in 2018

In October 2018, she became the first female content creator for the gaming organization 100 Thieves. In 2020, she left Twitch for an exclusive streaming contract on YouTube

In her first three months on YouTube, she averaged around 1,500 concurrent viewers. Her stream then experienced significant growth with her concurrent viewer counts exceeding 100,000.

Throughout 2021, she made appearances in music videos for “DayWalker” by Machine Gun Kelly as well as “Build a Bitch” and “Inferno” by Bella Poarch

Valkyrae was named “Gaming Creator of the Year” by Adweek in 2021 and was included on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2022.

In September 2022, she became an ambassador for the fitness apparel brand Gymshark. On March 11, 2023, she co-hosted the second annual Streamer Awards.

As of this writing, Valkyrae is a co-owner of the gaming organization 100 Thieves and has been YouTube’s most-watched female streamer since 2020.

On April 7, 2021, she and CouRageJD joined the ownership group of 100 Thieves, alongside Dan Gilbert, Scooter Braun, Drake, and its founder, Nadeshot.

As co-owners, they received equity in the company, which Forbes valued at $190 million at the time
