Who Are Sarina Wiegman Siblings?: Sarina Petronella Wiegman also known as Sarina Wiegman-Glotzbach is a Dutch football manager and former player.
She developed a passion for playing football at a younger age and during her playing career, she started out as a central midfielder before moving to defence.
Wiegman played for the North Carolina Tar Heels women’s soccer team as a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
On her return to the Netherlands, she joined the women’s team of Ter Leede. With the team, she won the Dutch championship and the KNVB Cup once.
Wiegman represented the Netherlands from 1987 to 2001. She gained 104 caps for the Netherlands, scoring three goals. Along the line, she also captained the team.
After hanging her boots in 2003, she began her coaching career with the women’s teams of Ter Leede and ADO Den Haag.
In 2016, Wiegman received her full coaching license and became the first woman to work as a coach for a Dutch professional football team
Following her appointment as the head coach of the Dutch national team, Wiegman led them to victory at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017, and runners-up of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
In August 2020, it was announced that from September 2021, Wiegman would manage the England women’s national team following the end of Phil Neville’s contract
After officially taking over as manager for the England women’s national team, she led the Lionesses to victory at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 on home soil.
The above-mentioned feat was the first trophy for an English senior team of either sex since the men’s team won the 1966 FIFA World Cup.
As of August 2023, Sarina Wiegman is in charge of the England women’s national team at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
On Monday, August 7, 2023, England beat Nigeria to progress to the Round of 16 and will will face off against the winner of the Round of 16 clash between Colombia and Jamaica on August 12.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup started on 20th July and will end on 20th August 2023.
