She grew up with two sisters, Barbara and Rita, and three brothers: Arthur, Fred Jr., and Wilbert, who was also known as Chico. The Ross family practiced the Baptist faith.

During Diana Ross’s childhood, her family lived at 635 Belmont St. in the North End neighborhood of Detroit, close to Highland Park, Michigan. Notably, her neighbor in this area was Smokey Robinson.
