MacKenzie Scott is an American novelist and renowned philanthropist who has a net worth of around US$35 Billion in 2023. Aside being a successful novelist, she also gained fame for being the ex-wife of billionaire business mogul and owner of Amazon, Jeff Bezos.

MacKenzie Scott Tuttle was born in San Francisco, California, United States, on April 7, 1970. Scott has been raised in San Francisco, where she used to live with her parents. Her father used to work as a financial planner, and her mother was a homemaker.
She was named after her maternal grandfather, G. Scott Cuming, who worked as an executive and general counsel at El Paso Natural Gas. She also has two brothers, with whom she has enjoyed her childhood. She was quite passionate about writing and reading.
She wrote her first major work at the age of six. She wrote down a 142-page book named The Book Worm, which was quite unbelievable.
In 1988, she graduated from the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. In 1992, Tuttle earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Princeton University, where she studied under Nobel Laureate in Literature Toni Morrison, who described Tuttle as “one of the best students I’ve ever had in my creative writing classes”.
MacKenzie Scott started her career as a novelist in 2005. She wrote her first novel in 2005, named The Testing of Luther Albright. The novel became a massive hit and later in 2006, she managed to win the American Book Award for it.
Scott was quite emotional after winning the award, and she said in an interview that it took her almost 10 years to write the book, as she was helping Jeff Bezos to build Amazon, she was delivering three Children, and much more. In 2013, her second novel Traps was published, which also gained decent success.
Apart from her works as a novelist, Scott has also played a very vital role in the development and success of Amazon, along with Jeff Bezos. She was the first employee in the company when it started in 1994.
She initiated and negotiated the company’s first freight contract. Although, after the company gained prominence, she became less involved in it, and more involved in her family and literary works.
She got married to Jeff Bezos in 1993, with whom she has three sons and an adopted daughter, from China. She divorced him in 2019 and later remarried Dan Jewett in 2021 after her divorce. The couple also divorced in early 2023.
