He won the Sport merits Gold Star from CONI, the Gold Medal of the President of the Republic for athletic prowess in 1964, the Ustica Golden Trident, and others. After retiring from diving, Enzo took a career in politics.

He was elected to the Senate for the extreme-right Alleanza Nazionale party in Italy. He subsequently appeared on tv from 2000 to 2002 in the broadcast news series, Lineablu before venturing into acting. On November 13, 2016, he died in Syracuse, Italy the same place he was born.
