Tan See Leng founded Healthway Medical Group in 1992 when he was 27 years old with a group of friends, using a bank loan of S$90,000 and initial capital contributions of S$5,000 from each of the original partners.

He expanded the organization to become Singapore’s second-largest private primary care group as co-founder and chairman of the business. He successfully sold the organization to British United Provident Association Healthcare in 2004.

Tan See Leng joined Parkway Holdings in 2004 as Mount Elizabeth Hospital’s chief operating officer. He was later elevated to executive director of Pantai Holdings, a Parkway subsidiary, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Pantai Hospitals Division, and head of Parkway’s Malaysian operating division until 2008.

Tan served as Parkway Holdings’ and Parkway Pantai Limited’s managing director and group chief executive officer from 2010 until 2019. He served as IHH Healthcare BHD’s chief executive officer and managing director from 2014 to 2019.

His efforts throughout his tenure include delisting Parkway Holdings in 2010 and relisting IHH Healthcare in 2012, which resulted in one of the biggest IPOs ever.

By overseeing the mergers and acquisitions of Acibadem Healthcare (Turkey), Fortis Healthcare (India), and several hospitals around Asia, he helped the organization grow from 15 hospitals in 2009 to 84 hospitals as of the end of 2019.

IHH Healthcare Berhad has received several honours under his direction, including the Best Managed and Best Overall Corporate Governance Poll Awards from Asiamoney in 2016.

He stepped down from his roles as managing director and group chief executive officer of Parkway Holdings and Parkway Pantai Limited in 2019.

Tan See Leng has served on various medical and advisory committees for ministers. For instance, he has served on the College of Family Physicians of Singapore’s board of trustees since 2009. (CFPS).
