He joined the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2010, making his NFL debut on October 24 against the San Diego Chargers, recording four (4) tackles in the game
During his time with the New England Patriots, Brown played in eleven (11) games for the Patriots in 2010, all as a reserve. He finished the season with eleven (11) tackles.
He was waived by the New England Patriots on August 31, 2012, during final cuts before the beginning of the 2012 NFL season. Brown signed with the Indianapolis Colts on September 1, 2012.
After 3 seasons, Brown signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 11, 2015. On April 18, 2016, the Jacksonville Jaguars released him.
On August 20, 2016, Brown was signed by the Falcons and on August 27, 2016, he was waived by the Falcons. On November 2, 2016, Brown was signed by the Buffalo Bills.
In September 2023, the Ex-NFL star hit major headlines when he was reported missing. Around the same time, his mother was also discovered dead in a Chicago suburb.

The family of Sergio and his mother, Myrtle alerted police after they said they’d been unable to find or contact either of them, the Maywood Police Department said in a news release.

Sergio was reported missing on Saturday, September 16, 2023, by his family after they were unable to contact him. His mother, Myrtle Simmons-Brown, also could not be contacted.
Myrtle Simmons-Brown, 73 was later found dead Saturday afternoon in Addison Creek near the back of her Maywood home in Illinois, which is about 17 minutes from Chicago.
