Rusty LaRue is one of the most popular and richest Basketball Player who was born on December 10, 1973 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States. LaRue spent a year in Russia before returning to America. He briefly played for the NBA’s Utah Jazz in the 2001-02 NBA season. After that, he went back to Europe and joined Pallacanestro Varese, an Italian league. He returned to the NBA in 2003 as a player with the Boston Celtics. However, he was not allowed to play in any regular season games. Instead, he played in four games for Golden State Warriors in the final season.
In 2009, he re-joined the Wake Forest men’s basketball program as an assistant coach under Dino Gaudio. He was retained as an assistant by new head coach Jeff Bzdelik in 2010. He was released by Wake Forest’s new coach, Danny Manning in 2014.
On June 30, 2015, LaRue was named the new men’s basketball coach at West Forsyth High School. West Forsyth was attended by Chris Paul, another former Wake Forest player.
LaRue chose to concentrate solely on basketball after college because there were more opportunities for him to play professionally. After practicing his craft for one season in the minor leagues, LaRue was not drafted by any NBA teams. However, he was offered a spot on Chicago Bulls’ roster in 1997. LaRue averaged just 3.5 points per game during the 1997-98 NBA season. He also earned a NBA Championship ring. After Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman left, LaRue would get more playing time the following season. He averaged 4.7 and 1.5 points per game and made 33.7% of his three point field goal attempts. LaRue was not allowed to play in the 1999-2000 NBA season because the Bulls continued their rebuilding efforts. He returned to the minor leagues and signed with CSKA Moscow in 2000.
LaRue was the one who had the most success on the football field. He was a Wake Forest freshman quarterback in 1992. His senior year saw him break eight NCAA records, including one for the most completions in a single game (55). LaRue was also a great basketball player. He helped his teammates to the NCAA Tournament four times consecutively. He was also second in school history for three-point field goals made and first in all-time three-point goal percentage.
LaRue served as head men’s basketball coach at Greensboro College in 2004-05 and later was athletics director and basketball coach at Forsyth Country Day School in Winston-Salem.
