Keating was born to Marie Keating and Gerry Keating and shares the same parents with his four other siblings and he happens to be the youngest child of his parents.
His siblings are; Ciarán, Gerard and Gary and his only sister, Linda. He attended St. Fintan’s High School while living in Bayside, Dublin, and County Meath as a child.
Ronan Keating career
Keating made his musical debut in 1993 as Stephen Gately’s co-lead singer in the Irish pop group Boyzone, which also included Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Shane Lynch, and Gately.
He began his solo career in 1999 and has since released eleven albums. When the song “When You Say Nothing At All” from the movie Notting Hill debuted at number one in various nations, he attracted international acclaim. On Magic Radio, Keating now hosts a breakfast program.
In addition to the 25 million records he has sold with Boyzone, Keating has sold over 20 million records globally as a solo artist. His most well-known roles in Australia are as a judge on All Together Now (in 2018), as a coach on The Voice Australia (in 2016), and as a judge on The X Factor (from 2010–14).
Additionally, from 2022 to 2023, he was a coach on The Voice Kids UK and The Voice of Germany. Keating is involved in charitable work and has volunteered for the Marie Keating Foundation, which promotes breast cancer awareness and is founded in honor of Keating’s mother, Marie, who passed away from the disease in 1998.
Keating tried out in vain for a part in The Hobbit. The same-titled book by J. R. R. Tolkien served as the inspiration for the movie.
Goddess, a 2013 romantic comedy movie co-starring British actress Laura Michelle Kelly, was the project that Keating started working on in April 2011. Babe: Pig in the City author Mark Lamprell, who also directed the movie.
In the movie Postman Pat: The Movie, released in May 2014, Keating provided Postman Pat’s singing voice. He contributed to Keith Lemon: The Movie.
He replaced David Hunter as “Guy” in the West End production of Once at the Phoenix Theatre in London in November 2014, playing the character until March 2015.
In the West End production, he was the fourth main “Guy” and the first Irish actor to take up the part since Glen Hansard in the Oscar-winning original movie that served as the inspiration for the musical. Critics gave his performances in Once favorable reviews.
Keating and Jessica Marais co-starred in the fourth season of the Australian drama Love Child in 2017. He also appeared in the movie Another Mother’s Son, based on a true account of the German occupation of the Channel Islands, as Harold Le Druillenec, Louisa Gould’s brother.
