Richard A. Lovett is one of the most popular and richest Science Fiction Writer who was born on October 28, 1953 in Dixon, Illinois, United States. Lovett writes science fiction and is also the coach of Team Red Lizard. This 300-member running group in Portland, Oregon has two women who were selected to run for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Team. One member of the U.S. Snow Shoe Racing Team. He has contributed to Running Times magazine and Marathon & Beyond magazine, as well as writing Olympic-related news articles for National Geographic News and Cosmos newspapers. Along with Alberto Salazar, he co-authored two books about running and two on cross-country skiing.
Seven of his science fiction stories have sports themes, including running: “Equalization”, (Analog March 2003), and “Original Sin”, (Analog June 2006). “Jak and the Beanstalk,” (Analog Jul/Aug 2011), and “Running 2030” (Running Times Dec 2011).
Lovett won the magazine’s first reader’s choice award, AnLab (an Analytical Laboratory), in 2002 for an article entitled “Up in Smoke: What Mt. St. Helens Blasted Conventional Scientific Wisdom (April 2001). He has been awarded the award an unprecedented eleven times. This includes three times for novelettes, three for novellas, five times for science articles, and three times each for novelettes. He has been in the top five 33 times more than any Analog contributor, including the 2015 awards. His work was published in the magazine 134 times as of the issue’s July/August 2015 issue. This places him second on the magazine’s all-time contributors list. He has written science and fiction articles, as well as profiles since 2006. A series of how to articles on writing short stories was also published. These special features account for about 25% of his contributions to the magazine.
