Rich Glover is one of the most popular and richest Football Player who was born on February 6, 1950 in Bayonne, New Jersey, United States. Richard Edward Glover, born February 6, 1950, is an ex-professional football player who was a defensive lineman for the New York Giants (NFL) and the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL). Under the direction of Bob Devaney, he played college football in Nebraska. Glover attended Snyder High School in Jersey City. Glover recalls that Roy Corso instructed his players to bring a cover for the garbage bin after each game. Corso explained that it was for their protection. Glover acknowledges that if they didn’t have those covers, they wouldn’t have been able to pass the losing team who were throwing rocks at the bus windows as they left the parking lot.
He was selected to the Nebraska All-Century Football Team. His jersey (#79), is now retired by sixteen Cornhuskers. Glover was inducted into the College Football Hall Of Fame (1998).
He was the 69th overall pick by the New York Giants after his college career. He was a Husker and Outland winner, and played for the Giants for one season. In 1974, he joined the Shreveport Steamers in the World Football League. After sustaining injuries, he joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 1975. He became a teacher and coach for the San Jose public schools. He was a member of the New Mexico State football coaching team in 2004.

Rich Glover, who was second in line to win the Outland Trophy from Nebraska after his New York Giant colleague Larry Jacobson in 1971, was Rich Glover. He is the first of the four Cornhuskers (Dave Rimington and Dean Steinkuhler), and the thirteenth lineman to win both the Outland Trophy as well as the Lombardi Award. Glover was also third in 1972 Heisman Trophy voting. He was won by Johnny Rodgers, and was the only defensive player among the top ten.
He won the Outland Trophy in 1972 as a senior Husker player. This was the second of eight Nebraska Outland Trophy winners and the first of five Nebraska Lombardi Award winners. The nation’s most successful team, Nebraska has won nine Outland Trophys. Oklahoma is second with four. He was the Blackshirts’ middle guard and an important member of the Blackshirts. He was also an underclassman on both the 1971 and 1970 undefeated Nebraska teams, which won consecutive national championships. Although the 1972 team was a preseason #1, they lost their road opener against UCLA. They finished 9-2-1 and rose to fourth in AP polls, buoyed by a 40-6 victory over Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.
In 1999 Glover was selected as a starting defensive tackle by Sports Illustrated in their “NCAA Football All-Century Team” alongside other starting defensive tackle Bronko Nagurski. The second and third team defensive tackles were Buck Buchanan, Lee Roy Selmon, Mike Reid and Randy White. Glover was one of six Nebraska Cornhuskers on SI’s All-Century Team 85 man roster; the others being Johnny Rodgers, Dave Rimington, Dean Steinkuhler, Tommie Frazier, and Aaron Taylor. Glover, the oldest of the six, was the only Cornhusker defensive player selected.
