Perrion Winfrey career

On the advice of Iowa State coaches, Winfrey started his college career at Iowa Western Community College.

He made 55 stops, 23 tackles for a loss, and 9.5 sacks in two seasons. According to 247Sports.com, Winfrey is the finest junior college prospect in the country. Despite receiving offers from Alabama, Baylor, LSU, and Texas, Winfrey decided to transfer to Oklahoma.

Winfrey participated in all 11 of Oklahoma’s games during his first season there and started at defensive lineman for the Sooners. After compiling 19 tackles, six for loss, and three pass breakups, the league’s coaches selected him to the second team of the Big 12 Conference.

Winfrey thought about entering the 2021 NFL Draft after the season, but ultimately decided to stay at Oklahoma for his senior year.

In the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Winfrey with the 108th overall choice. As a rookie, Winfrey participated in 13 games. He had .22 total tackles, 5 sacks, 2 passes defended.

Winfrey was released by the Browns on July 19, 2023, following an investigation over allegations that she threatened and brandished a gun at a lady in Cleveland.

In Harris County, Texas, on April 10, 2023, Winfrey was taken into custody on suspicion of assault, a misdemeanor.

On July 19, 2023, Fox 8 Cleveland reported that Winfrey was being looked into by Cleveland police for reportedly frightening a woman in Cleveland with a gun and pulling it.
