Miriam Cates net worth-British conservative party politician, Miriam Joy Cates was born on August 23, 1982.
Cates was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire in the United Kingdom and she is known to have grown up in a Christian home along with her two younger brothers.
Cates attended King Edward VII School. She claims to have developed an early interest in politics at the age of 11, beginning with radio listening to the Today show.
She received a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Sheffield Hallam University, studied genetics at the University of Cambridge, and worked as a science instructor at Tapton School in Sheffield.

On the Bradfield Parish Council, Cates was chosen in 2015 to represent the Oughtibridge Ward as a parish councilor. In 2019 she was re-elected, and in 2021 she gave her resignation.
In the 2018 Sheffield City Council election, Cates ran as a Conservative for the Stannington ward and joined the party the same year.
She collected 898 votes and came in third place behind the candidates for the Liberal Democrats. On October 24, 2018, Cates was chosen as the Conservative candidate for Penistone and Stocksbridge.
In the 2016 referendum, she had voted to keep the UK as a member of the EU; however, she stated during the election campaign that she had now altered her vote and now supported Brexit.
With a majority of 7,210 (14.5%) votes, Cates won the seat of MP in the 2019 general election, with a swing from Labour to the Conservatives of 8.6%.
After Cates’ election, it came to light that a smartphone app developed in 2014 by Redemption Media, a business she and her husband jointly own, charged Foodbanks for the services it rendered.
In response, Cates noted that the software had been created without charge and that the first foodbank to utilize it had not paid for it.
When the app was made available to other food banks, there was a setup fee that went toward covering the costs of development and training. In addition, by downloading the software, the Foodbanks also received a free JustGiving membership.
The S6 Foodbank, operated by Network Church Sheffield and located at St. Thomas’ Church, was the app’s first user. Prior to its national launch in 2014, they tested the app in 2012.
Cates served as Network Church Sheffield’s operations director from 2016 to 2018. She and her family were St. Thomas’ Church members.
Since March 2020, Cates has been a member of the Ecclesiastical Committee, and since October 2021, she has been a member of the Education Select Committee.
Along with local real estate entrepreneur Mark Dransfield, she serves as co-chair of the Stocksbridge Towns Fund. On July 11th, 2022, she was chosen to serve on the 1922 Committee.
Cates and fellow Conservative MP Danny Kruger founded the New Social Covenant Unit in 2021 with the main objective of advocating legislation that would “strengthen families, communities, and the nation.”
She stated in The Daily Telegraph in October 2021 that “if we erode the very concept of women, for example by saying that trans women are women, or by denying the importance of biological sex – we erase the rights of women.”
In an interview with GB News, she was asked about the item, and she said that she was not against trans women who had undergone sex reassignment therapy having equal rights, but she was against self-identification and gender fluidity because she believed that it “posed a danger” to women.
Cates backed Suella Braverman in the July 2022 contest for the leadership of the Conservative Party. After winning the leadership race, Liz Truss was appointed prime minister; however, she resigned in October 2022. In the ensuing October 2022 Conservative leadership race, Cates supported Rishi Sunak.
At a National Conservatism Conference in 2023, Cates made reference to the antisemitic Cultural Marxism conspiracy theory by asserting that “…cultural Marxism (that) is systematically destroying our children’s souls” and that “the one overarching threat to British conservatism and indeed to the whole of western society” is declining birth rates.
