Mike Zambidis is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on July 15, 1980 in Porto Rafti, Attica, Greece. Michalis “Iron Mike”, Zambidis, a professional Greek kickboxer/martial artist was born July 15, 1980. He is a former SUPERKOMBAT Middleweight Champion and a 17-time World Champion. He competed mainly in the K-1 MAX.
He was renowned for his outstanding fights and the K-1 World MAX 2010 final 16 match against Chahid OuladEl Hadj on October 3rd 2010 was one of the most exciting matches of his career. According to ringside commentators Sugar Ray Sefo (ringside) and Michael “The Voice”, this fight set a high standard for future K-1 fights. Zambidis lost by unanimous decision to Giorgio Petrosyan in the final. Zambidis seemed to knock Petrosyan out of the fight but the referee correctly declared it a slip.
He defeated Reece McAllister by unanimous decision in the quarter-finals of the K-1 World MAX 2012 World Championship Tournament Final in Athens, Greece on December 15, 2012. He was then battered into submission by the eventual champion Murthel Groenhart in the semis. The much larger Groenhart ruthlessly trashed Zambidis with knees and punches, forcing his corner to stop the fight at the end of round two.
He was scheduled to fight Elam Ngor at the K-1 World MAX 2013 World Championship Tournament Final 16 in Majorca, Spain on September 14, 2013. However, he withdrew from the tournament and was replaced by Ismat Aghazade.
Promoter Tarik Solak organized Zambidis’ first fight in Japan against Albert Kraus, 2002 World K-1 Max Champion. Kraus was knocked out in round 2. Zambidis defeated Norifumi Yamamoto with a right-hook in April 2005 before thousands of Japanese kickboxers. Zambidis seems to have a weakness in receiving low kicks. This was evident in his defeat to Japanese Yoshihiro Sato in 2006. He managed to land many kicks as well as knees to earn enough points to win a unanimous decision. Zambidis is the national champion in kickboxing and holds a number of international titles.

Mike Zambidis began training in martial arts when he was nine years of age with his brother Spiros Zambidis, and his best friend Lazaros Filipas. Zambidis fought a rubber match (both having won 1 match apiece) with Australian Muay Thai champion John Wayne Parr in May 2011. He lost by TKO (three knockdowns) in round 1.
