Mark Jackson is an American former professional basketball player and coach who was a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a player, he played for the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets from from 1987 to 2004. He played college basketball for the St. John’s Red Storm before he was selected in the first round, 18th overall pick by the New York Knicks of the 1987 NBA draft.

Mark Jackson’s brother was Troy Jackson. Troy was an American basketball player who was also known as “Escalade”. He is the son of parents Marie Jackson and Harry Jackson.

He attended Hills East High School in Long Island, New York where he played basketball weighing almost 500 pounds (227 kg) at the time. He had the skills and gave some great performances which caught the eye of Bill Hughley, coach of Wallace Community College in Selma, Alabama.

Upon graduation, Troy enrolled at Wallace and continue his basketball career. His weight did not deter him as he received all-region honors as a sophomore. He made the assertion “People wonder how I played at 500-plus pounds. But to me it felt natural.”

Troy got a scholarship to the University of Louisville which an obligation that he lost weight. He managed to trim himself down to 165 kilograms (363 lbs) by adhering to a strict diet as he became a senior.

He did have a good game over the years before he died in his sleep later on February 20, 2011. The course of his death was said to be hypertensive heart disease.
