Meet Trayce Thompson’s Parents – Trayce Thompson is a former professional baseball player who was born on March 15, 1991, in Los Angeles, California.

Trayce Thompson grew up in a baseball family, with his father Mychal Thompson playing in the NBA for several years, and his older brother Klay Thompson becoming a star in the NBA as well.

Trayce Thompson attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, where he played baseball and basketball. In his senior year, he batted .429 with 6 home runs and 30 RBIs and was named the Trinity League’s Player of the Year. He was also a standout basketball player, averaging 21.6 points per game and leading his team to the CIF Division III state championship game.

After graduating from high school, Trayce Thompson was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the second round of the 2009 MLB draft. He signed with the team and began his professional career in their minor league system.

Trayce Thompson worked his way up through the minor leagues, playing for several White Sox minor league affiliates. In 2015, he made his MLB debut with the White Sox, appearing in 44 games and batting .295 with 5 home runs and 16 RBIs. He also showed off his defensive skills, making several highlight-reel catches in the outfield.

Thompson played for the White Sox for the entire 2016 season, appearing in 80 games and batting .225 with 13 home runs and 32 RBIs. He continued to impress with his defensive play, making several more spectacular catches throughout the season.

In December 2016, Thompson was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-team deal that also involved the Cincinnati Reds. He played for the Dodgers for one season in 2017, appearing in 27 games and batting .122 with 1 home run and 2 RBIs.

Thompson spent most of the 2018 season in the minor leagues, playing for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was called up to the major leagues briefly in July 2018 but was optioned back to the minor leagues after just four games.

In August 2018, Thompson was traded to the Oakland Athletics for cash considerations. He played in just 18 games for the Athletics, batting .130 with 1 home run and 1 RBI.

Thompson became a free agent at the end of the 2018 season and signed a minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks in February 2019. He was released by the Diamondbacks in June of that year.

Thompson then played in the independent leagues, suiting up for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League. He announced his retirement from professional baseball in November 2020.

Aside from baseball, Thompson is also known for his love of music. He has released several rap songs under the stage name “Trayce Travie” and has collaborated with other artists on music projects. He has also made cameo appearances in movies and TV shows, including the movie “Pitch Perfect 3” and the TV show “Ridiculousness.”

Meet Trayce Thompson’s Parents

Trayce Thompson is the youngest son of former NBA player Mychal Thompson and his wife, Julie Leslie Thompson.

Mychal Thompson was born in Nassau, Bahamas, on January 30, 1955. He moved to the United States to attend college and played basketball for the University of Minnesota. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 1978 NBA draft and played for the team for four seasons. He was then traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he played for one season before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 1987.

Mychal played for the Lakers for seven seasons and was a part of two championship-winning teams in 1987 and 1988. He retired from professional basketball in 1991 and began a career as a sports broadcaster. He currently works as a radio commentator for the Lakers.

Julie Leslie Thompson was born on March 28, 1958, in San Francisco, California. She is a former college volleyball player and has worked as a high school volleyball coach.

Mychal and Julie met while they were both attending college in Minnesota. They got married in 1987 and have three children together: Mychel, Klay, and Trayce.
