Mark Occhilupo is one of the most popular and richest Surfer who was born on June 16, 1966 in Kurnell, New South Wales, Australia. Occhilupo returned to professional surfing in the year 1995, and following a string of major wins, took home the world title at the age of 33 in 1999. He is now retired to Bilambil Heights New South Wales, with his wife Beatrice and step-son Rainer. He returned to an international surfing competition in 2019 , after 20 years, and participated in the So Sri Lanka Pro 2019. He only scored only an unimpressive scoring in the range of 8.74 and was eliminated from Round 3 of the competition.
He won his first amateur schoolboys’ contest at 13 and followed up with two Cadet State Titles. After the 10th grade, he left home as an ASP trialist. Virtually unnoticed, he advanced to the Top 16 at year’s end and secured a seed for the following year.
Occhilupo, also known as “Occy”, began his professional career in the World Championship Tour (WCT) at the age of 17. In September 2019, he made a brief return to the international surfing circuit and took part in the So Sri Lanka Pro 2019 tournament which also marked his first visit to the country.
Over the following few years, he tried some unsuccessful comeback attempts, but was still in the spotlight as a regular guest on his Billabong videos. He got married to Beatrice Ballardie in 1993 and constructed a home near Kirra. After gaining 112 pounds, he started an exercise program with McCoy at Western Australia that helped him lose 34 pounds and recover his fitness.
In 1984, aged 17 Occhilupo’s high-performance standards led him to the highest of ASP ratings. In Jeffreys Bay, his powerful and aggressive style was advantages in backside surfing. Occhilupo ranked in the top five spots in the rankings and was gaining popularity throughout America. United States when Tom Curren was at the height in his professional career. Curren and Occhilupo were adversaries in surfing’s most prestigious spectator competition that is Op Pro. Op Pro, which Occhilupo was victorious in 1985, after beating Curren in a three-way final, and then again in 1986’s Op. Aspired to become acting, the actor portrayed himself as a character in 1987’s movie Cult-Classic on the North Shore.
He was a contestant in the 2011 season of the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars on Channel Seven, and was partnered with Jade Brand. They were the third couple to be eliminated from the competition.
