Madison Scott Disappearance: Was Madison Scott found? – Madison Geraldine Scott, known as Maddy Scott, was a Canadian woman who went missing on May 28, 2011, following a birthday party she attended at Hogsback Lake, located 25 kilometers southeast of Vanderhoof.

Originally planning to camp overnight with a friend, Maddy’s friend left during the night without her. The last known interaction with Maddy was when some individuals who departed the party between 3 am and 4 am spoke to her and offered her a ride home. Unfortunately, this was the last reported contact with her.

On May 29, 2023, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced the tragic news that Madison Scott’s body had been identified at a rural property on the east side of Vanderhoof, a few days prior.

Born on April 29, 1991, to parents Eldon and Dawn Scott, Maddy had a vibrant personality and enjoyed various activities such as dirt biking, figure skating, horseback riding, and team sports. Described as someone who was equally comfortable in a dress or work coveralls, Maddy worked as an apprentice heavy-duty mechanic with her father at MBG Logging. She had a spontaneous nature, often engaging in impulsive adventures and prioritizing fun over other commitments. However, it was uncharacteristic for her to be out of touch with family and friends for an extended period.

Maddy had a caring and affectionate demeanor, always willing to help others in need. She valued quality possessions, evident by her expensive motorbike gear and recently upgraded iPhone. Additionally, Maddy enjoyed participating in amateur video productions, showcasing her talent for bringing people together and entertaining her friends. Although she focused more on social aspects of school, she managed the academic side while not being overly interested in it.

During the ill-fated trip to Hogsback Lake, Maddy traveled in her white 1990 Ford F150 pickup truck accompanied by Jordi Bolduc. Following her disappearance, various items were found in and around the vehicle, including a two-person tent, sleeping bags, toiletries, costume jewelry, a hatchet, a cooler with wine and beer, a gas can, and motorbike boots. Notably, several items were missing, including the clothes she was wearing, her iPhone 4 with a robin’s egg blue case, and a cluster of keys on a Gothic-style lanyard.

Apart from Jordi Bolduc, Maddy had few close friends at the party. Having spent most of her life in Vanderhoof, she attended Nechako Valley Secondary School, where she met Jordi in 2007. Their friendship dwindled by the time they graduated in 2009. The party at Hogsback Lake was an annual birthday event organized by one of the attendees, advertised through a Facebook event. Approximately 50 people were reported to have attended.

Hogsback Lake itself is a 128-acre lake situated 26 km southeast of Vanderhoof. The surrounding area consists of diverse terrain, including lakes, creeks, swamps, forests, and fields. The topography features slightly rolling hills, with the lake reaching a depth of 22 feet. While there are no ranches in immediate proximity to the Hogsback Lake campground, there are privately owned ranches within a kilometer, some with houses and livestock.

Amidst the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding Madison Scott’s disappearance, the investigation continues as authorities work tirelessly to uncover the truth behind her tragic fate.

On the night of May 27, 2011, Madison Scott attended a party accompanied by her friend Jordi Bolduc. As the evening progressed, a fight broke out around midnight, leading Bolduc, who was injured and intoxicated, to decide to leave with her new boyfriend. Bolduc claimed that she had tried to persuade Scott to come along, but Scott, already inside her sleeping bag, declined and chose to stay behind. Consequently, Bolduc left her in the tent.

The following morning at approximately 8:30 am, Bolduc returned to the campsite with her boyfriend to retrieve her belongings, including her clothes and sleeping bag, before heading off to work. However, she did not see Scott and neglected to report this discovery to anyone.
