In September 1983, Lincoln Riley was born in Lubbock, Texas. In 2002, he was a quarterback for Texas Tech. Riley has worked with head coaches Bob Stoops, Ruffin McNeill, and Mike Leach.

From 2003 until 2009, Riley served as an assistant coach at Texas Tech in a variety of capacities, including as the wide receivers coach. He worked at East Carolina from 2010 through 2013 as the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and associate head coach. In 2014, he also served as that position.

From 2015 to 2016, Riley served as Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before taking the helm as head coach in 2017. In both 2017 and 2018, he contributed to his team’s Big 12 Championship victory. 2015 saw Lincoln Riley take home the Broyles Award.

He received the Big 12 Coach of the Year and AP Big 12 Coach of the Year awards in 2018.
