Kim Min-jae started his professional career in 2016 when he joined Gyeongju KHNP in the Korea National League. He stayed there for just a season and made 17 appearances before departing the club.

He then joined Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in 2017 and spent 2 seasons with the K League 1 side. Kim Min-jae made a total of 60 appearances and registered 3 goals.

After staying in the leagues in his mother country for a while, he decided to switch leagues and have a feel of new challenges.
