He developed a love for acting at a younger age and has been consistent throughout his career rising through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after actors.

Sutherland is best known for his starring role as Jack Bauer in the Fox drama series 24, for which he won an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Satellite Awards.

Sutherland landed his first leading film role in the Canadian drama The Bay Boy, which earned him a Genie Award nomination

Since making his debut, he has appeared in several films including; Stand by Me, The Lost Boys, Young Guns, Flatliners, A Few Good Men, The Three Musketeers, A Time to Kill, Dark City, Phone Booth, Melancholia, Pompeii and Flatliners, to mention a few.

Sutherland also starred as Martin Bohm in the Fox drama Touch and provided the facial motion capture and English voice for Venom Snake in the video games Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

He starred as President Tom Kirkman in the ABC/Netflix political drama series Designated Survivor. Sutherland is the recipient of various awards and accolades.

Kiefer Sutherland was born at St Mary’s Hospital in the Paddington district of London, to Donald Sutherland (father) and Shirley Douglas (mother).

He’s named after American-born writer and director Warren Kiefer, who directed Donald Sutherland in his first feature film, Castle of the Living Dead.

Kiefer Sutherland’s parents are successful Canadian actors who have been living and working in England.

His father’s career spans over six decades. He has been nominated for nine Golden Globe Awards, winning two for his performances in the television films Citizen X and Path to War; the former also earned him a Primetime Emmy Award.

His mother was also an activist and her acting career combined with her family name made her recognizable in Canadian film, television, and national politics.
