Joseph had 67 tackles, 3 interceptions (two of which were returned for touchdowns), and 12 pass breakups as a junior at Scotlandville Magnet High School, all of which helped the team win the 5A state championship.
He was named Class 5A All-state, All-Metro, Co-Defensive MVP of District 4-5A, and All-District. He had 113 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, and three interceptions as a senior. He participated in the All-American Bowl and was chosen Class 5A All-State.
Over the course of his high school career, he scored a total of 13 touchdowns from punts, kickoffs, and interception returns. He was a teammate of Javonte Smart’s and practiced basketball as well.
In spite of receiving offers from Alabama, Florida State, Auburn, and Florida, Joseph decided to play collegiate football for LSU. He participated in 11 games as a true freshman, recording 12 tackles and one pass breakup. Against the University of Mississippi, he made 4 tackles.
He signed up through the transfer portal after being barred from the 2019 Fiesta Bowl due to team rules violations, but he then withdrew his name and took part in LSU’s spring practices.
Joseph declared his intention to move to the University of Kentucky the following month when he re-entered the transfer portal in July 2019.
Due to NCAA transfer regulations, Joseph missed his second year. He started nine games as a redshirt sophomore and played on a defense that had five players taken in the 2021 NFL Draft.
In his lone season of action with the Wildcats, he had 9 starts, 25 tackles, a tackle for loss, one pass breakup, and tied for second in the SEC with four interceptions.
He decided not to play in the last regular-season contest in order to concentrate on his preparations for the NFL Draft in 2021. The Dallas Cowboys selected Joseph in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft (44th overall).
On June 10, 2021, he agreed to a four-year rookie deal with Dallas. On September 2, 2021, he was put on injured reserve to begin the season. He started working on October 30.
