On February 21 on the 21st of February Canaday had been signed by Pittsburgh Steelers. The team released him to Pittsburgh Steelers in May 2017. He was signed again on May 30 in 2017. Canaday was brought in to face the rookie Colin Holba for the vacant long snapper spot which was previously currently held by Greg Warren for 11 seasons. Canaday was chosen as the Steelers long snapper in time in the beginning of the regular season.

Canaday was signed by Canaday’s Arizona Cardinals on May 2 in 2016, a year after he was not selected during the 2015 NFL Draft. Canaday was awarded the Cardinals long snapper job following a contest against another newcomer Danny Dillon.
