Former German professional footballer and manager, Jurgen Klinsmann was born on July 30th, 1964 in Goppingen, a town situated in Germany.

He was born to Martha Klinsmann and Siegfried Klinsmann. Klinsmann shares the same parents with his brother, Horst Klinsmann and has a son named Jonathan Klinsmann. He is married to Debbie Chin who is a former American model.

He started playing for the amateur soccer team TB Gingen in Gingen a der Fils when he was eight years old. He scored 16 goals in one game for his new club six months later.

He relocated to SC Geislingen when he was ten. His father purchased a bakery in Stuttgart, the state’s capital, when he was 14 years old. After the family moved there, Klinsmann kept playing for SC Geislingen even after being identified as a member of the Württemberg young team.

He entered into a contract with Stuttgarter Kickers at the age of 16, two years before turning professional. His parents thought it would be best for him to complete his apprenticeship as a baker at the family business first, which he did in 1982.

Bayern Munich, Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur, VfB Stuttgart, and Inter Milan are just a few of the prestigious European clubs that Klinsmann has represented.

He participated in the 1990 FIFA World Cup-winning West German and 1996 UEFA European Championship-winning Unified German squads.

In addition to managing the German national team to a third-place finish at the 2006 World Cup, he also served as the coach of a number of other teams, most notably Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the United States national team.

He scored in each of the six major international competitions he participated in, from the World Cup in 1998 to Euro 1988, and was considered one of Germany’s top scorers in the 1990s.

After making his debut for West Germany in 1987, Klinsmann eventually earned 108 caps, moving him into fourth place in the nation’s all-time cap rankings after Lothar Matthäus, Miroslav Klose, and Lukas Podolski.

Only Klose’s record of 71 goals for the national team, Gerd Müller’s 68 goals, and Podolski’s 49 goals are greater than Klinsmann’s 47 goals, which he shared with Rudi Völler for fourth place all-time. Klinsmann placed sixth all-time with 11 goals at the FIFA World Cup.

Klinsmann made his international debut for Germany in a 1-1 tie with Brazil in 1987. He competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics and took home a bronze medal. He also competed in 1988, 1992, and 1996 UEFA European Championships, making it to the final in 1992 and winning the title in 1996.

After replacing his former colleague and strike partner Rudi Völler as head coach of the national team, Klinsmann made his way back to Germany on July 26, 2004. After that, Klinsmann started a bold initiative to overhaul the team’s management.

Oliver Bierhoff, a fellow German striker, joined the team, which helped separate the previous combined post’s public relations responsibilities from the actual coaching portion of the position. After a dismal performance at Euro 2004, he also started a young initiative to revitalize an aging team.
