Ian Ziering career

Ziering began his role as Steve Sanders on the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990. Sanders was a high school student and buddy of Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley), another key character in the series. He is one of just four series regulars who appeared on the show for all ten seasons till 2000.

In 1998, Ziering was cast as Dr. Niko “Nick” Tatopoulos’ voice in Godzilla: The Series, a direct sequel to the 1998 picture. Matthew Broderick, who played Nick Tatopolous in the film, was replaced by Ziering.

Ziering created, directed, and starred in the 2006 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival short film Man vs. Monday, which won the Audience Choice Award.

In addition, in 2006, he received the Best Actor Award at the Monaco Film Festival for his performance as Francis in the indie film Stripped Down.

Ziering has also played Erich Aldrich in JAG, What I Like About You, The Doctors, and Cameron Stewart in Guiding Light. He also played the protagonist, Edison Trent, in the videogame Freelancer.

In 2007, he appeared as a celebrity dancer on Season 4 of Dancing with the Stars. Cheryl Burke, who won the competition in Season 2 with partner Drew Lachey and Season 3 with partner Emmitt Smith, was his professional dance partner.

Ziering advanced to the semi-finals after receiving a perfect score from the judges (three 10s) for one of his two dances in the round. However, it was not enough to get him to the finals: he and Burke were eliminated the next day, on May 15, 2007, during the results show.

Burke expressed her want to “slit her wrists” after working with Ziering in 2016. She then apologized, not to Ziering, but for casually mentioning suicide.

Ziering did not respond publicly to Burke’s remarks, other than retweeting a message from a former coworker who commended him as a pleasant person to be around.

On June 18, 2007, Variety announced that Ziering had auditioned the previous week for the role of The Price Is Right host, succeeding Bob Barker. Drew Carey was eventually hired. Nikki Ziering, Ziering’s ex-wife, was a model on the show from 1999 until 2002.

Ziering was confirmed as a celebrity guest star with Chippendales for four weeks at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in May 2013.

He appeared on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice in 2015. He appeared on Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition in 2018. In 2019, he was cast as the superhero Blue Devil in the DC Universe streaming service’s drama Swamp Thing. The show only lasted one season, yet it was well-appreciated by critics and audiences alike.
