Hugh Freeze Wife: Who is Jill Freeze? – Hugh Freeze graduated from Senatobia High School in 1988 and went on to Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he lettered in junior college baseball for two years. In the spring of 1990, he was named an NJCAA Academic All-American for the Rangers.

Freeze went on to play baseball at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he tried out for the team in the fall of 1990, hoping to make the roster for the spring of 1991. He was dismissed from the team.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and a minor in coaching and sports administration from Southern Miss in 1992.

In 1992, Freeze became the offensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee.

Freeze was hired as an assistant athletic director for football external affairs at the University of Mississippi in 2005. He was named tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator the following season, positions he held until 2007. Following that season, he served as an interim replacement for head coach Ed Orgeron until Houston Nutt was hired.

On October 11, 2018, Freeze turned down a job as offensive coordinator for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football league.

On December 7, 2018, Freeze was named head coach of the Liberty Flames football team. The Flames finished 10-1 in 2020, including a 15-14 loss to NC State. On December 11, 2020, Freeze tested positive for COVID-19.

He returned in time to coach Liberty in the 2020 Cure Bowl, which they won. Freeze was mentioned as a possible candidate for several SEC coaching jobs, including those to replace South Carolina’s Will Muschamp and Auburn’s Gus Malzahn. He was uninterested in any of these positions.

Freeze has stated that he is a born-again Christian and has been vocal about it throughout his coaching career. According to the Baptist Press, he is a regular speaker at churches and conferences, and his Twitter account is full of Christian references.

The Ole Miss football program committed various recruiting and academic violations under Freeze, which influenced the NCAA’s decision to revoke 27 of Freeze’s victories and ban the team from postseason play for two years.

He resigned from Ole Miss after it was discovered that he had repeatedly called escort services using a university cellphone.
