In 2012-13, Boozer improved with the Bulls, averaging 16.2 points and 9.8 rebounds in 79 games. The Bulls waived him in 2014.

Following his release from the Bulls, Boozer was grabbed off of amnesty waivers by the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2014-15, he played for the team for one season. Boozer finished his career in China with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. He announced his retirement in December of 2017.
