Who is Allen Iverson?
Allen Ezail Iverson was born on June 7, 1975 in Hampton, Virginia, United States. He is the only son of Allen Broughton and Ann Iverson. He has three younger half-siblings; Brandy, Ieisha and Mister.

Iverson’s college career in Georgetown took shape immediately, excelling in basketball and receiving many prestigious awards like the “Big East Rookie of the Year” and “Big East Defensive Player of the Year”.
During the 1996 NBA draft. Iverson was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, 1st overall pick. In his first season, he averaged a 26.8 points which was the league’s leading and was subsequently named in the All NBA team.
Iverson was handed a renewed 6-year contract worth US$70 million ahead of the 1999-2000 season. He continued to make strides, averaging 26.2 points, 4.8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
He fell out of order with Coach Larry Brown and the team attempted to trade him to the Detroit Pistons but it didn’t materialize as Matt Geiger who was part of the deal failed to forfeit his US$5 million trade kicker.
After 10 seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Iverson was traded to the Denver Nuggets. His first start for his new team ended in a loss although he scored 22 points and 10 assists.
Iverson was traded to the Detroit Pistons on November 3, 2008. Following his move, he switched from his favored number three jersey to number 1. He again moved to the Memphis Grizzlies for a year before rejoining his former team the Philadelphia 76ers in 2009.
Iverson signed a contract with Turkish professional basketball team Beşiktaş Basketbol in 2010, scoring 15 points on his debut. On October 30, 2013, he made a official announcement on his retirement in the company of former Georgetown Coach John Thompson and Sixers’ great Julius Erving.
