Sangeeta made her debut as an actress in the mid-1990s and has appeared in the films Khadgam (2002), Pithamagan (2003), Uyir (2006), Dhanam (2008) and Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020).

She began her acting career in the late 1990s with an unreleased film titled Poonjolai opposite Venkat Prabhu. Her debut film was the big-budget Malayalam political thriller Gangotri (1997). She then had small roles in hit films such as Summer in Bethlehem (1998) and Kaadhale Nimmadhi (1998). She was cast as the second heroine in Ezhupunna Tharakan (1999) with Mammootty and in Deepasthambham Mahaashcharyam (1999) with Dileep.

She also had a small role in Mohanlal’s starrer Sradha (2000). Her supporting roles in Khadgam (2002) and Pithamagan (2003) won her Filmfare Awards in Telugu and Tamil. She then made her debut in Kannada films with Dr. Vishnuvardhan in Janani janmabhumi (1997) and later Nalla (2004) where she co-starred with Sudeep.
