George R. Robertson Cause Of Death: What Killed George R. Robertson?: George R. Robertson, officially known as George Ross Robertson was a Canadian actor born on April 20, 1933, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
He developed a love for acting at a younger age and going to university and earning his master’s degree in business, he felt that acting was for him so he went on to work in theatre.
His career began on the stage, and he landed small roles in three films nominated for the Best Picture Oscar; ‘Airport’ (1970); ‘Norma Rae’ (1979), and ‘JFK’ (1991).

He also starred in Rosemary’s Baby, Airport, Marooned, and Norma Rae. George became a household name after landing a role as Chief Hurst in the Police Academy film franchise.
As the film progressed, his character, Chief Hurst rose up the ranks to the position of Commissioner. Robertson left after six films, declining to shoot the last one, which is the 1994’s Police Academy: Mission To Moscow.
After leaving the franchise, he went on to play Barry Goldwater in the film The Reagans. He also took on the roles of Admiral Leahy in Hiroshima and Senator Fulbright in The Pentagon Papers.
George also played a role as Dick Cheney in the controversial ABC two-parter The Path To 9/11. As an actor, he also threw himself into humanitarian work, being as a UNICEF ambassador where he spoke at schools dressed as Chief Hurst.
He enjoyed a career spanning six decades, having first embarked on his pursuit of acting in the theatre and graced the silver screen many times throughout his Hollywood career.
His last on-screen role was in the TV movie ‘Cradle to Grave’ in 2017. George died on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the age of 89.

The actor’s death was announced by his family, who described the late actor as a ‘husband, father, grandfather, actor, writer, painter, and humanitarian’.
