Mendy became the first African Goalkeeper for Chelsea’s senior team. He kept sixteen clean sheets in that season. He helped Chelsea to win the UEFA Champions League by keeping nine clean sheets in the 2022/2021 campaign.

He received the UEFA Goalkeeper of the year award as well as the Best FIFA Goalkeeper of 2021; the first African Goalkeeper to win both awards. He also won the UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea.
