Dwayne Johnson (born May 2, 1972) is an American actor, film producer, and retired professional wrestler better known by his ring name the Rock. Widely recognized as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time, he was instrumental in the creation and success of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) during the Attitude Era, the late 1990s and early 2000s industry boom period.
Johnson wrestled for the WWF for eight years before moving on to acting. His films have grossed more than $3.5 billion in North America and more than $10.5 billion globally, making him one of the world’s highest-grossing and highest-paid performers.
What business does Dwayne Johnson engage in aside from his acting and wrestling career?
In 2012, Dwayne Johnson and his now ex-wife Dany Garcia founded Seven Bucks Productions. Seven Bucks’ digital, creative, and production teams are involved in every choice from screenplay screening to movie promotion whenever he stars in a film. Johnson’s many social media sites, most notably Instagram and YouTube, are managed by the firm.
Seven Bucks is preparing multiple cinematic projects with former WWE stars such as John Cena as well as mainstream celebrities. For example, Seven Bucks produced the 2019 comedy Shazam!, which featured no appearances by The Rock. Seven Bucks was also a producer on the films Baywatch, Rampage, Skyscraper, and Jumanji.
The company’s name is a nod to a difficult period in his life when he was cut from a Canadian football club and ended up living in Florida with seven dollars, a five-dollar bill, a one-dollar bill, and a change to his name.
Similarly, Teremana Tequila was launched in March 2020 by Dwayne and a consortium of partners, with Mast-Jägermeister providing distribution. The brand sold 300,000 cases in its first year of existence. The brand declared in January 2022 that it was on track to sell 600,000 cases in 2022. If this is the case (pun intended), Teremana is worth at least a few billion dollars. To put this in context, when George Clooney and his partners sold Casamigos tequila to Diageo in 2017, the company was selling 170,000 cases per year. Clooney and his partners paid $1 billion for Casamigos. Using that as a benchmark, Teremana is theoretically worth $3-$3.5 billion now.
As of this writing, it is unknown how much of Teremana The Rock owns. The Rock is said to have founded the brand with three different partners, one of them being his ex-wife Dany Garcia. The four co-founders then teamed up with the López family of Jalisco, Mexico, who have been farming agave and creating tequila for generations. It’s also likely that Mast-Jägermeister obtained an equity investment in exchange for distribution and premium shelf space.
If, when everything is said and done, The Rock still controls 30% of his brand, his investment would be worth slightly more than $1 billion pre-tax at a $3.5 billion hypothetical valuation.
