Erick Swen Pohlhammer Boccardo was a poet from Chile who belonged to the Generation of the 1980s. He self-described as a “media figure, traveler, compulsive reader, Zen Buddhist, and expert in both academic and pop culture.” He was born on 5 February 1955 and passed away on 22 May 2023
Erick Pohlhammer attended The Grange School, where he graduated in 1972 before enrolling in the Catholic University and earning the position of professor of Castilian there. He also studied aesthetics, however, he did not finish his degree since he made the decision to move to the United States and enroll at the University of Miami for a master’s degree in education.

Erick Pohlhammer’s first book was released in 1979, although he initially discovered his love for writing at the age of 19 when he was enrolled in his second year of university. When he received the Pablo Neruda Award in 1993, it was his first significant honor. For his poetry book Vrgenes de Chile, he later garnered more honors, including the 2008 Santiago Municipal Literature Award.
He showed Pic-poemas, his first exhibition of digital prints, in 2015. He led workshops and taught literary courses at numerous institutions. He has appeared on several television shows as a commentator, a writer, and the president of the Union of Chilean Poets. He also served as the movement’s minister of happiness for culture and politics, Por un Chile Participativo y Feliz.

Erick Pohlhammer is known for his role as a judge on the TV show “Cuánto vale el show?”.
In May 2022, he suffered paralysis on the right side of his face in addition to his arm.
