Director Siddique Ismail born on 1 August 1960, and died on 8 August 2023, was an Indian film director and producer, screenwriter, and actor who predominantly worked in Malayalam cinema.

Director Siddique made his directorial debut with the Malayalam movie Ramji Rao Speaking (1989), and his screenwriting debut came with the Malayalam movie Pappan Priyappetta Pappan (1986). His final film was Big Brother (2020).

Director Siddique began his career as an assistant director of Fazil. The duo Siddique and Lal were discovered by Fazil when he saw them playing in the Cochin Kalabhavan troupe. Siddique later collaborated with Lal to create many films and was called Siddique-Lal. The duo later split up; Siddique continued his efforts as a director, while Lal moved into acting and producing.

All of Siddique’s films are comedies and his Tamil films are mostly remakes of his Malayalam films, such as Bodyguard (Malayalam) and Kaavalan (Tamil). Bodyguard was later remade in Hindi. Director Siddique has co-produced the film with Jenso Jose under their joint company S Talkies.

Director Siddique has won Kerala State Film Awards: Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value (1991), Zee Cine Awards: Zee Cine Awards for Best Debut Director (2012), and has appeared in the following television shows Mammootty the Best Actor Award (Asianet) as Judge; Comedy Festival (Mazhavil Manorama) as Judge; Cinema Chirima (Mazhavil Manorama) as Host; Comedy Festival Season 2 (Mazhavil manorama) as Judge; Aaraanee Malayalee (Manorama News) as anchor; Comedy Stars Season 2 (Asianet) as Judge; and Top Singer Super night as Judge.

Director Siddique was born to Ismail Haji and Zainaba in Kochi on August 1, 1960, and attended St. Paul, Kalamassery. On May 6, 1984, Siddique married Sajitha, with whom he has three daughters Sumaya, Sara, and Sukoon.
