Dillon Gabriel career

As Brandon Wimbush’s backup when he started his freshman year at UCF in 2019, Gabriel took over in the first game and started the team’s final 12 games as the Knights concluded with a 10-3 record, which was capped with a 48-25 victory over Marshall at the Gasparilla Bowl.

He completed 236 of 398 pass attempts for 3,653 yards, 29 touchdowns, and seven interceptions throughout the season.

After leading the Knights to a 6–4 record and a trip to the Boca Raton Bowl in his sophomore year, Gabriel finished 21 of 45 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns in a 49–23 loss.

In a regular-season game against Louisville on September 17, 2021, Gabriel was hurt during the game’s last play, a multi-lateral attempt by the Knights to score a miraculous touchdown.

After the game, Gabriel was dragged off the field and had his shoulder examined with X-rays. His season was finally cut short by a broken left collarbone, even though surgery was not necessary.

Gabriel made his transfer from UCF public on social media on November 27, 2021. After playing with the Sooners for two seasons, Gabriel said on December 4, 2023, that he was departing Oklahoma and would once more use the transfer portal.

Gabriel first declared he would transfer to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on December 16, 2021. Gabriel, however, declared less than three weeks later that, on January 3, 2022, he would transfer to the University of Oklahoma.
