Dex Carvey passed on at 32 on Wednesday, 15 November 2023. He died of an accidental drug overdose, according to a joint statement from his parents

Dana Carvey and his wife, Paula Zwagerman, announced their son’s death in a statement posted on Instagram on Thursday, November 15.

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old”; the statement said

“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, film making, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately”

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. “But most of all, he loved his family; his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee”

“Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever. To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hears and prayers”

Dana Carvey also took to social media to share photos of his son. One was captioned, “Fxxx the tabloids. This is my boy,” and featured a picture of Dex Carvey smiling.

Another showed a picture of father and son, with Dana Carvey writing, “Dex and me working together. What a joy.”

Dex Carvey was the oldest of Dana Carvey and Paula Zwagerman’s two children. They have another son, Thomas Carvey who was born in 1993 and is 30 years old as of November 2023.
