Filipino musician and entrepreneur Daniel Morales Javier was born in Abuyog, Leyte, on August 6, 1947. Leonardo “Andok” Javier Sr. gave birth to him.

He was well-known as one of the original members and the band’s lead vocalist in the well-known musical ensemble The APO Hiking Society, together with Jim Paredes and Boboy Garrovillo. He was the veteran member of the team.

He coined the term “OPM” (Original Pinoy Music, Original Philippine Music, or Original Pilipino Music), which initially referred to the Music of the Philippines, Philippine pop songs, particularly ballads, and any musical composition composed by a Filipino that became popular in the Philippines in the late ’70s.

Javier also started a T-shirt company based on the fictional figure Pidro, a guy from the Philippines’ countryside who traveled to Manila in search of money, called Pidro: Ang Saplot Ng Bayan.

Javier lived in General Santos City and frequently traveled to the United States. Javier, who survived kidney failure, pneumonia, emphysema, heart failure, hepatitis, diabetes, and sepsis, had a near-death encounter in 2011.

Later, he started promoting moringa as a complementary and alternative medicine. Javier openly endorsed Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign for president of the Philippines in the 2016 election while endorsing Leni Robredo in the 2022 contest.
