Dan Wootton, a British broadcaster, was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and holds dual New Zealand and British citizenship. He gained prominence as the executive editor of The Sun newspaper.
Wootton’s career in journalism began in his native New Zealand, where he wrote an entertainment column for The Dominion Post and worked as a reporter for the television show Good Morning. At the age of 21, he moved to the United Kingdom and found work with Broadcast magazine after a stint at trade magazines.
In 2007, Wootton joined the News of the World, initially as part of the TV team before becoming the TV editor and eventually the show-business editor until the newspaper’s closure in 2011.
