Chong’s career in acting began with her role as a secretary performing a Turkish-inspired belly dance in Eric Khoo’s film Stories about Love. She also sang the show’s theme song, “Sorry, My Love.” She later appeared in Channel 5’s sitcom Making Love, playing the seductive receptionist Pamela. Her next role was in the Channel 8 TV drama You Light Up My Life, where she portrayed a child social worker and sang the show’s theme songs, which made it to Singapore’s top music charts for four weeks.
