CeeLo Green is a $10 million net-worth American singer, rapper, songwriter, and actor. CeeLo Green rose to prominence as a member of the hip-hop group Goodie Mob. Before CeeLo went solo in 2002, the trio recorded three critically praised albums.

His solo career, however, did not go as anticipated, and he catapulted to international prominence four years later as a part of the soul group Gnarls Barkley, whose debut single “Crazy” became a hit and topped several singles charts around the world. Their initial single’s success was followed by their album “St. Elsewhere,” which reached #4 on the US “Billboard” 200.

Who is CeeLo Green?

CeeLo Green was born Thomas DeCarlo Burton in Atlanta, Georgia on May 30, 1974. CeeLo’s father, an ordained clergyman, died when he was only two years old, and he adopted his mother’s surname, Callaway. He started singing in church and went to Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Georgia.

CeeLo’s mother, Sheila (a firefighter and ordained preacher), was paralyzed in a vehicle accident when he was 16 and died two years later. In 1991, he established the band Goodie Mob with T-Mo, Khujo, and Big Gipp, and the group gained popularity around the time Sheila died. CeeLo fell into a deep sadness after her death, which he discussed in multiple songs, including Goodie Mob’s “Free” and Gnarls Barkley’s “Just a Thought.”
