Cardinal Pell Cause Of Death, Parents, Wife, Children: Cardinal Pell, officially known as Gorge Pell was an Australian cardinal of the Catholic Church.
He was born on June 8, 1941, in Ballarat, Australia, and began his studies for the priesthood at Corpus Christi College in 1960. Pell was ordained a priest by Cardinal Gregorio Pietro Agagianian at St. Peter’s Basilica on December 16, 1966, a bishop in 1987, and was made a cardinal in 2003.
Pell received a Licentiate of Sacred Theology degree from the Pontificia Università Urbaniana in 1967. He also continued his studies at the University of Oxford where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in church history in 1971.

During his studies at Oxford, he served as a chaplain to Catholic students at Eton College and was a member of the Council of Cardinal Advisers between 2013 and 2018.
Pell also served as the inaugural prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy between 2014 and 2019 and was summoned to Rome in 2014 to clean up the Vatican’s finances. He was often described as the Church’s third-ranked official.
Cardinal Pell served as Archbishop of both Melbourne and Sydney before becom ing one of the Pope’s top aides. In 2018, he made headlines when the court found he had abused two boys while Archbishop of Melbourne in the 1990s.
Pell spent 13 months in prison before the High Court of Australia quashed the verdict in 2020. The former Vatican treasurer is Australia’s highest-ranking Catholic cleric, and the most senior Church figure ever jailed for such offenses. He died on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the age of 81.
