Brian Stein is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on October 19, 1957 in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Stein was removed at the close of the 1987-88 season signing with the French side Caen. He returned to France in 1990 and joined an additional French club, Annecy. He returned to Luton during the 1991-92 season however Luton were knocked out at the close of the season, bringing to an end the streak of ten consecutive seasons of football in the top league. He was a regular for Luton during the 1991-92 season however, he scored only 3 league goals.
He signed for Barnet in 1992, retiring as a professional player at the end of the 1992–93 season when Barnet were promoted from Division Three despite almost going out of business during the season.
Stein returned to Luton in 2000 to work as reserve-team coach. With Mick Harford leaving for Nottingham Forest in 2004, Brian was promoted to assistant manager by then Luton manager Mike Newell. On 15 March 2007, after the sacking of Newell, Luton appointed Stein caretaker manager. He only managed Luton for one match, a 2–0 home defeat to Ipswich Town on 17 March, before being replaced by Kevin Blackwell. Blackwell brought in his own backroom staff, and Stein left Luton at the end of the 2006–07 season.
On the 29th of February, 1984 Stein was a player for England in a 2-0 loss against France in Paris the game which he was paired with teammates from the club Paul Walsh. This would be his last international cap. In the same year, he also helped England to win in the 1984 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.
At first, he was a winger but he was soon shifted to a central striker role, in which he formed strong partnership along with Bob Hatton and then Steve White as Luton was awarded his first Second Division Championship in 1981-82. In the following season, his striker in the top league was a youngster named Paul Walsh, and Luton delivered a series of attacking performances in the beginning of the campaign, including five-and-five home wins against Brighton as well as Notts County, and a draw at 4-4 against Stoke City. For the final straw, Luton was then at Anfield and stunned Liverpool fans by scoring twice. Stein scoring two goals past Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar, the game ending 3-3. Stein was absent for a significant portion of the season due to breaking his leg in December and in the final game during the campaign Luton had to beat against Manchester City to stay in the top division and avoid sending City themselves to the bottom of the table. Stein returned to the match despite being unable to match his fitness and was involved with a goal after four minutes that was a goal for Raddy Antic who scored the winning goal. The match is remembered for its exuberant Luton director, David Pleat, gambolling through the pitch after the end of the game to greet his team members.
Strike partner Walsh moved to Liverpool at the end of the 1983–4 season, and Stein then formed an equally strong partnership with Mick Harford. His finest hour came on 24 April 1988 when he scored two goals, including the late winner, in Luton’s 3–2 League Cup Final victory against Arsenal.
