Borna Barisic was born on 10th November 1992 in Osijek in eastern Croatian region of Slavonia to Bosnian Croat parents. He began his career football with Osijek youth academy at the age of eight. In 2012, he joined Bijelo Brdo, He played for one season and returned back to Osijek.

Barisic had a great season with Osijek in the 2014/2015 season which caught the eyes of many clubs. Dinamo Zagreb signed a five-year contract with him in 2015 and was later loaned out to Lokomotiva.

In 2016, Barisic returned back to Osijek and was handed the captaincy position. He played for two seasons and again had a great spell there. In 2017, he agreed terms with the Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiev, however, at the last minute, Dynamo Kyiev opted for another player in Dinamo Zagreb.

On 7th August, 2017, Barisic signed a four-year deal with the Scottish premiership side, Rangers at a fee of 2.2 million pounds.

Borna Barisic made his first International appearance for Croatia on 11th January, 2017. He is part of the 26-man squad in the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

Barisic has made 320 appearances in his club career football as at 12th November, 2022. Though, he is a right back but he has scored 15 goals and 25 assists. In his International duty, he has capped 29 games for Croatia, scored 1 goal and made 2 assists.
