Beth Matthews Parents: Meet Jane Matthews – Beth Matthews, a support worker from Menheniot near Liskeard, died after ingesting the substance on March 21, 2022.

She was reported to have collapsed in front of hospital personnel. This was after she told them that she had consumed protein powder. She had reportedly been detained under the Mental Health Act. It was not long when she was transferred to The Priory’s Cheadle Royal psychiatric hospital in Stockport for specialist therapy.

Beth Matthews ingested the ‘poisonous’ substance after opening a package purchased on the internet. Beth ‘quickly became unwell’ on March 21, last year, around 1.15pm, and paramedics were called.

She went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to Wythenshawe Hospital, where she died at 3.55 p.m. Beth had suffered from mental illness since childhood, according to the inquest, and was diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder.

The coroner told the jury of six women and five men women hearing the case at South Manchester Coroner’s Court that she suffered severe injuries in a suicide attempt after jumping from a bridge in April 2019.

Her injuries resulted in ‘significant long-term pain and disability,’ and in 2021, she suffered a “further deterioration of her mental health” and was detained at a hospital in Cornwall under the Mental Health Act.

Then, in November 2021, she was transferred to The Priory in Cheadle for specialist Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), where she died in March of the following year.

According to her Twitter account, she tried to commit suicide and was in the intensive care unit. She also had a mental illness and spinal cord damage. With over 25,000 social media followers, she was able to influence a large number of people in her life.
