Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus, professionally known as Beabadoobee, is a Filipino-English singer and songwriter. She released five extended plays on the independent label Dirty Hit between 2018 and 2021: Lice (2018), Patched Up (2018), Loveworm (2019), Space Cadet (2019), and Our Extended Play (2021). Fake It Flowers, her maiden studio album, was released in October 2020 to tremendous praise. Beatopia, her second studio album, was released on July 15, 2022.

Beabadoobee toured with labelmates 1975 on many legs of their Music for Cars Tour and American vocalist Clairo on her Immunity Tour. She received the Radar Award at the 2020 NME Awards and was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards. In an annual BBC poll of music reviewers, Sound of 2020, Beabadoobee was also tipped as a breakthrough performer for 2020. Beabadoobee was a support act on Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour in 2023.

Who is Beabadoobee?

Beabadoobee was born on June 3, 2000, in Iloilo City, Philippines, and relocated to London with her parents when she was three. She grew up in West London, listening to original Filipino music as well as 1980s pop and rock. She grew up listening to indie rock artists such as Karen O, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Florist, and Alex G.

She attended Sacred Heart High School before transferring to Hammersmith Academy for her thirteenth year. Laus studied the violin for seven years before purchasing her first guitar secondhand at the age of 17. She was taught by YouTube tutorials created by other renowned guitarists. Kimya Dawson and the Juno soundtrack motivated her to start composing music.
