Barry Round Cause of Death, Age, Family, Net Worth – Barry James Round was a footballer from Australia. Between 1969 and 1985, he played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) for Footscray and South Melbourne/Sydney.

He played 328 games, shared the Brownlow Medal with former teammate Bernie Quinlan in 1981, and was the Swans’ first captain during the Sydney era. Round stood 1.93 meters tall and weighed 108 kilograms.

After retiring from VFL football, he played and coached for Williamstown in the Victorian Football Association, Victoria’s second-highest level of football, where he was a member of their 1986 and captain-coached their 1990 premiership teams.

In 1987, he received the association’s best and fairest award, the J. J. Liston Trophy, and in 1990, he received the Norm Goss Memorial Medal for best on field in the Grand Final.

Round captained the Williamstown Football Club from 1989 to 1991 and coached the team from 1989 to 1993. Between 1987 and 1989, Round won three consecutive Gerry Callahan Medals while at the club. Barry Round was named to the Williamstown Team of the Century in the Ruck Position in 2009.

Williamstown FC celebrated their 150th anniversary in May 2014, and Round was inducted into their inaugural Hall Of Fame team. On the same night, he was elevated to the club’s Legend status, one of only five players to receive the honor.

In 2001, Round was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame with a citation that read: “Lion-hearted big man who represented Footscray and Sydney with distinction”. In addition, he was a member of Sydney’s Team of the Century, which was announced in 2003.

Round competed in The AFL Footy Show’s singing competition “Screamers” in 2005. Some honours that he won in his career include Brownlow Medal in 1981, Liston Trophy in 1987,
South Melbourne/Sydney best and fairest 1979, and 1981, South Melbourne/Sydney captain from 1980 to 1984, and South Melbourne/Sydney Team of the Century.
